The Collective
What is the Collective?
The Participation Collective brings together young people aged 13-25 years with a special educational need and/or disability, and participation groups, to share their thoughts and feelings on important topics and national participation items. Voices are stronger when united!
The Collective support young people to be heard by decision makers and those in power. This includes linking into government departments such as Department for Education. We share opportunities and news, resources to engage young people in national agendas, as well as offers of support and development work to inform and upskill young people.
When we meet?
We have The Collective Power Hour every other month where we meet to do this (alongside feeding in from groups who cover the topics and send in their thoughts)
The other months we have The Collective Catch Up. This is where we find out what you’ve been talking about in groups, develop regional links and celebrate children and young people’s input into local area agendas. We also explore topics young people want to talk about.
Once a year, we also meet in person (and online) for The Collective Get Together!

What sort of things do the groups do to make a difference?
We travel across the country to deliver workshops to many types of SEND services. We talk to local authorities, health services, schools and colleges and more, to help improve the way they support and work with those with SEND.
We also work with the Department for Education to include the voice of young people in creating & improving policy.
