What is the Kids Advisory Panel (KAP)?
The Kids Advisory Panel (KAP) is a group of young people with SEND who help shape the future of Kids. They share their ideas, experiences and views to help make sure young people are part of important decisions about the charity.
Their ideas and experiences help Kids understand what matters to young people and make sure they have a say in decisions that affect their lives.

Rosanna won the Inspirational Young Person 15–18 Years WellChild Award Winner
A huge congratulations to Rosanna, who won the Inspirational Young Person 15-18 Years WellChild Award!
Rosanna is a brilliant advocate for young people with SEND, using her own experiences to speak up, create change and help make sure young people’s voices are heard, valued and included.
Tom and Tobias have been nominated for the Nasen Young Advocate of the Year Award
Tom and Tobias have both been shortlisted for the Nasen Young Advocate of the Year Award!
They work hard to make sure disabled young people’s voices are heard and taken seriously. They share their experiences, speak up for change and help other young people have a say in decisions that affect their lives. Well done both!
Abi and Rosanna helped develop and launch an important report
Abi and Rosanna helped develop and launch Ambitious about Autism’s report, In Practice: Autistic young people’s views on the future of SEND.
The report shares the views and experiences of autistic young people. Abi and Rosanna also shared their voices through the Absence Notes campaign.
It’s great to see young people helping to shape conversations about the future of SEND.
Tom shared his experience of education on BBC Radio 4
Tom spoke on BBC Radio 4’s In Touch about his experience of moving into higher education.
He talked about student voice and his work with Voices of SEND Yorkshire. As he gets ready to start university, Tom continues to speak up about the importance of listening to young people with SEND and including them in decisions about their education and future.
KAP helped plan and run the Kids Collective Get Together event
KAP members helped plan and run the Kids Collective Get Together. They helped develop activities, lead discussions and create a welcoming space where young people could share their experiences and ideas.
