Feel-Good Music Session
Let the power of music heal your soul
What are we going to do in this activity?
Music has the power to lift your mood, help you relax, or give you energy!
In this activity, you’ll take time to listen to music, pay attention to how it makes you feel, and enjoy the moment. Whether it’s your favourite upbeat song or calming tunes, this is your time to connect with the music.
Before we start
Pick your Music
Choose 3-5 songs or a playlist you like. It could be happy, calm, or something new you want to try.
Find a good spot
Sit or lie somewhere comfortable, where you can enjoy the music without distractions.
Lets get started
1
Press play
Start your first piece of music and let yourself focus on the sounds.
Notice the first sounds you hear—are they soft, loud, fast, or slow?
If you can, close your eyes and take a deep breath to relax your mind and body.
2
Notice the details
Listen closely to the instruments, the beat, or the singer’s voice.
Focus on the instruments you can hear—can you spot the drums, piano, guitar, or something else?
If there are lyrics, listen to the words. What do they mean to you? Do they tell a story or remind you of something?
If you can, tap your fingers or feet to the beat and feel the rhythm in your body.
3
Feel the rhythm
Pay attention to the beat or rhythm. Is it fast, slow, or bouncy?
Try moving your body to match the music—clap, tap, nod, or sway.
If you feel comfortable, try dancing a little! Let your body follow the music without overthinking it.
4
Think about the mood
Ask yourself, “How does this music make me feel?” Does it feel happy, calm, dreamy, or something else?
Picture a scene that matches the music. Is it a sunny day, a quiet evening, or a busy adventure?
If the music makes you feel calm, try to hold onto that calm feeling for a few moments.
5
Create your own sound story
Imagine that this music is the soundtrack to a movie or story. What kind of story would it be?
Write down or draw what comes to mind when you hear the song. It could be a place, a person, or a feeling.
If you want, you can make up a short story about the music and share it with someone else.
You did it !
Remember, take your time with each step and repeat the activity with different music
