Winter Photography Activity
Grab your phone and let’s take some wintry photos!
What are we going to do in this activity?
Let’s explore the magic of winter through photography!
In this activity, you’ll learn how to take beautiful photos of wintry scenes around your home or garden. Whether it’s frosty leaves, a cozy mug of hot chocolate, or the twinkling lights of the season, there’s so much to capture. You don’t need fancy equipment—just a phone or camera and a creative eye.
Before we start
Grab your gear
Find a Camera or Phone: Make sure it’s charged and ready to go.
Wrap up warm
Bundle Up if Going Outside: Wear something warm like a hat, gloves, and scarf. If you’re staying inside, set up near a window or in a cozy spot.
Lets get started
1
Choose your theme
Decide what you want to photograph—nature, decorations, food, or even your pet in a festive setting
2
Find good lighting
Look for natural light by a window or go outside during the daytime. If it’s dark, use fairy lights or a lamp to add a warm glow.
3
Frame your shot
Think about how your picture will look. Try different angles—close up, from above, or far away. How is the object positioned in the frame – is it in the centre, off to the side…?
4
Take the photo
Snap your picture! Take a few to see which one you like best.
5
Edit your photo
Use simple apps like Snapseed or your phone’s editing tools to make your photo brighter, sharper, or more colourful. You could add a black & white filter to enhance any snow or wintry feel, or add a vibrant filter to highlight brightly-coloured baubles.
You did it !
Remember, take your time with each step and repeat the activity with a different theme or feel
